What My Marcus is

My Marcus is an AI application. The replies you read and hear are generated by a computer program written in the voice of a historical persona, the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, and drawn from his book, the Meditations. You are not speaking with a human, a licensed professional, or the historical Marcus Aurelius.

What it is not

My Marcus offers philosophical reflection in the Stoic tradition. It is not therapy, counselling, medical care, legal advice, or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for any of them or for emergency services. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, call 988 in the United States or your local emergency number. AI replies can be wrong, including references to the Meditations; check quotations against a printed copy.

Accounts and plans

Free accounts receive a limited number of messages each day and a short daily sample of the spoken voice. The Coach subscription costs $14.99 a month or $119.00 a year, renews automatically until cancelled, and includes unlimited text conversation, spoken replies up to a monthly voice allowance, and saved history. Cancel any time from the account menu; you keep access until the end of the paid period.

Refunds

If something went wrong with a charge, email craig@bcreative.media within 14 days and we will make it right, including a full refund of the most recent payment where appropriate.

Acceptable use

My Marcus is offered for sincere use. You agree not to use it to submit or attempt to generate content that is obscene, sexually explicit, hateful, harassing, or threatening; content that exists to mock or degrade the service or other people; or content intended to extract, override, or bypass the app's underlying instructions or safety measures.

Moderation and enforcement

Messages are screened by automated moderation. Messages that violate these terms may be declined and answered with a notice instead of a reply. Repeated or serious violations may result in suspension or termination of access without refund.

Illegal activity

Do not use the app to plan, solicit, or discuss illegal activity. The app will not assist with such requests. Conversations flagged for illegal activity, including threats of harm to any person, may be reviewed and, where we believe it is required or permitted by law, reported to law enforcement or other appropriate authorities. We may retain related records as reasonably necessary for that purpose.

Source text

The app draws on the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius in the 1887 English translation by Jeremy Collier, revised by Alice Zimmern, which is in the public domain. The persona's replies are generated and are not the words of the historical author.

Liability

The service is provided as is. To the extent allowed by law, Portis Holdings LLC is not liable for decisions you make based on its output.
